Physicist Reveals in New Book Evidence of Life After Death He Experienced Himself and Some of the Best Evidence from the Literature
Denver, CO and Upland, CA (PRWEB) May 27, 2008 -- Author Jan Vandersande, Ph.D., is one of a growing number of scientists who has witnessed hard evidence of life after death. In his new book, Life after Death: Some of the Best Evidence, readers are taken into the fascinating world of séances and sittings where Vandersande, his wife, and close friends experienced other-worldly phenomena first-hand with genuine trance mediums and channelers.
"What happens after we die?" is a question that human beings have asked since time immemorial, and especially during the past two centuries, in-depth investigations have taken place throughout the world. For Jan Vandersande, interest in religion, philosophy, and questions about life and death began in his freshman year at Swarthmore; and even though he occasionally read a book on psychic phenomena, the time was not truly ripe for his paranormal education to begin. Continuing his formal education at Cornell University, he graduated with a master's degree in physics.
When Vandersande went to South Africa to work on his Ph.D., he met Marlene Mittens, the woman who was soon to become his wife. She too had an interest in what happens after death and in psychic phenomena, and it was in South Africa that they both decided to seriously pursue the subject. After some disappointing experiences with none-to-convincing psychics, they decided to form a circle and work along with others who were interested in developing their own psychic abilities. It was not, however, until they met Mickey and Sara Wolf--a husband-wife team of psychics--that they really began to experience paranormal phenomena.
In this fascinating volume that puts readers right in the "driver's seat," so to speak, we become privy to sessions that Vandersande attended and all the phenomena he encountered .His book provides a number of photographs of ectoplasm and full materializations his friend Professor Jack Allen took at séances in Johannesgurg as well as photographs of ectoplasm and full materializations from other mediums he believes are genuine.
Life after Death: Some of the Best Evidence does not attempt to delve into all forms of psychic phenomena or discuss reincarnation, near-death experiences, or apparitions. It does focus in on mediumistic activities and what Vandersande himself witnessed over the course of eight years--flying trumpets, and direct voice and ectoplasmic occurrences.
As in any field, there are those who are authentic and those who are frauds, and Vandersande warns readers about would-be mediums who engage in psychic subterfuge. "Whenever money can be made by providing 'survival evidence' for those who have lost a loved one," he says, "on many occasions, it is done fraudulently. Over the past 150 years, many fraudulent mediums and psychics has been exposed. However, the exception does not prove the rule. Just because there have been many fraudulent psychics does not mean that they are all fraudulent."

Author Jan Vandersande, Ph.D., has published more than 80 scientific articles, bringing a wealth of technical expertise to bear on the subject. As for the scientific community's acceptance of such findings, Vandersande says, "Unfortunately, most scientists won't believe the experimental evidence for psychic phenomena, since it would affect their view of reality. Also they would face the ridicule of their colleagues if they expressed belief in psychic phenomena. I should know because it has happened to me."
Vandersande holds a doctorate in physics and has served professorships at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, as well as Cornell University. Dr. Vandersande worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and is currently the communications director for VIASPACE Inc. He spends a lot of his spare time reading about, analyzing, and writing about psychic phenomena.
