It's All About the Music: Ladies and Gentlemen - Their First Dance as Husband and Wife!
Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near? Because you're reaching for schlock when you really should rock!
You don't have to go completely wild in choosing your song and dance style for your first dance (unless you really want to), but there are so many meaningful love songs by contemporary artists, just a bit of soul-searching and turning over a rock here and there may help you discover the first-dance song perfect for you.
Of course, if you prefer the more traditional standards, like The Carpenters' "Close to You", "Endless Love", or "You Are So Beautiful to Me" by Joe Cocker, it's your wedding and your first dance. But if you want to shake things up a bit and add some originality to a time-honored wedding staple, listen to some of these other music choices.
You can hold each other close with a number of ballads:
- A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson - Saved the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams - A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin - All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera - Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion - I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith - Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel - Through the Eyes of Love" by Melissa Manchester
If you're a Motown fan and want to put some soul in your steps, try these:
- Baby Love" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by the Supremes - I Feel Good" by James Brown - Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder - Baby, I Love You" by Aretha Franklin - How Sweet It Is to be Loved By You" by Marvin Gaye - You're My First, My Last, My Everything" by Barry White
Rockers have several choices, too:
- Believe" by Cher - The Best of My Love" by Eagles - Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen - Let's Get this Party Started" by Pink - Wait for Tonight" by Jennifer Lopez - I'm So Excited" by the Pointer Sisters
Fans of country music should already know they have dozens from which to choose. Here are just a few:
- You're Still the One" and "Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain - Made for Loving You" by Doug Stone - Forever and Ever, Amen" by Randy Travis - I Love the Way You Love Me" by Faith Hill - For the First Time" by Kenny Loggins
Finally, if you want to have fun and give your guests a good chuckle, consider these:
- Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf - Under My Thumb" and "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones - Back on the Chain Gang" by the Pretenders - Brick House" by the Commodores - She Bangs" by Ricky Martin - Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company - Old-Time Rock ?n' Roll" by Bob Seger
These are just a few of the hundreds of alternatives to the standard "first dance" songs, but above all, remember to dance like nobody's watching!

Art, Music and Literature Based Communities
What drives people? Some may say inspiration, our ambitions and needs; this is not very far from saying that people are driven by the inspiration provided by art and music as well as by the need to quench our literary thirst. For most people reading a book, watching a movie or listening to their favorite music isn't enough of an experience, the most important part is to interact and get validation from people with the same interests about our point of views and opinions.
