Extremely Grand Art and Accommodations with the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and Marriott Hotel
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) July 18, 2007 -- The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center will be celebrating an Extremely Grand Opening August 2-5 to unveil its 48,000-square foot, $28.4 million museum expansion of entirely original design and construction. In honor of the Fine Arts Center reopening, the Colorado Springs Marriott Hotel invites art fans to stay at this hotel in Colorado Springs and attend the new facility and its exciting permanent collection and world-class traveling exhibitions with a special weekend hotel package.
The original Fine Arts Center (FAC) Grand Opening was held in 1936, and included dancer Martha Graham, set designer Alexander Calder, and architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Seventy years later, the FAC plans an even grander affair -- an Extremely Grand Opening, which will feature a new set of famous artisans including former Director of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art Thomas Hoving, artist and independent film director John Waters, and Academy Award-winning performer Joel Grey.
Designed by award-winning architect David Owen Tryba, the spacious galleries of the new 48,000 square-foot museum will present the finest exhibitions traveling the world today. The FAC's historic spaces have been beautifully renovated, and the building now sparkles with three Dale Chihuly chandeliers, a million-dollar collection that is one of the largest in the world, featuring the historic Orange Hornet Chandelier. The FAC's collection of Southwestern art has been described as the finest in America. The quality of its modern collection was once compared to that of New York's Museum of Modern Art.
In partnership with the FAC and as a tribute to the opening of this fantastic new building, the Colorado Springs Marriott Hotel is offering a special hotel package beginning with the grand reopening weekend through March 9, 2008. The package includes deluxe accommodations at this luxury Colorado Springs hotel and tickets for admission to the FAC galleries for two guests.
Enjoy a weekend of splendor -- attend the FAC, view the new building and exhibits, and stay at the grand Colorado Springs Marriott with spectacular views, modern luxuries, and fabulous food.
